Geocache Description:

Easy park and grab

This is our first placed Geocache. We are so excited that Nana has agreed to let us place our cache very near her quilt shop. Following is the story of how the quilt shop came to be.

Lone Star Quilt Emporium was once the home place of a prominent family in Madisonville. The house was built in 1913 by Tom Viser who was Vice President of what is now Wells Fargo Bank. The property remained the Viser home place until his death in 1968. Their youngest daughter, Mary Louise sold the house. Due to unfortunate circumstances the house was abandoned. Before Mary could settle the business of the house, God called her home. Mary Louise graduated from this life in December 24, 1998.

The house stood empty and abandoned. Weather and the elements took it toll on the grand lady. A tree tore a hole in the roof and the front room was almost completely gone. Our Nana watched the house and at times wondered what would become of her. After speaking to the local insurance agent, it was determinded that the house would make a great place for our Nana's cake business. After much prayer and consideration, Nana began searching for the heir to Mary Louise's estate. The heir Judy Armstrong was found in Tomball, TX. Judy did not realize the house existed but agreed to sell the house to Nana.

Before the paperwork could be completed, the house went into foreclosure, and it looked bleak. Finally, the paperwork came through and our Nana had herself a house. Not only is the house used for her 10 year old cake business, but it is also home to Lone Star Quilt Emporium, filled with fabrics of many colors and the generous love of our Nana. We hope you enjoy our cache as much as we enjoyed placing it. The cache has various quilting supplies and some kiddie items as well.

Stealth may be required, as young muggles frequent the area daily.
