Geocache Description:

Rated 2.5 for difficulty due to the terrain and length and 3 for terrain due to the steep trail. Two-part multi-cache. First leg is a small container along Horseshoe Trail. Second leg is a regular container. Bring bug spray and a flashlight. TB’s welcome at the last cache.

This is our first cache and we hope you like it. It’s a nice walk in the woods with about 7 miles of hiking although it could be longer depending on which trail you take to and from the final cache. There is a YMCA camp nearby. Please be respectful of summertime campers and pay attention to private property signs. In summer you’ll see lots of Indian Pipe flowers. Interesting flowers as they are often mistaken for fungi due to the fact that they have absolutely no chlorophyll. Bring bug spray and beware of ticks. Keep your eyes open for deer along the trail. You’ll encounter some steep terrain from the fire tower to the first cache. You will find the first cache located a short distance off Horseshoe Trail. It’s a small container painted black with only a geocache i.d. and the coordinates for the next cache inside. If you stay on Horseshoe Trail (marked with a yellow blaze) the terrain continues to gradually decline until you reach a gravel road and then you’ll connect to a flat, old railroad bed trail. The tracks are no longer there. You might need a flashlight for the final cache. Travel Bugs welcome at the last cache. Have fun!
