Stadtrundgang Merkendorf / City walk through Merkendorf

Merkendorf ist ein kleines beschauliches Städtchen im Landkreis Ansbach, Regierrungsbezirk Mittelfranken. Es ist eines der wenige mittelalterlichen Ortschaften, dessen Ortskern auch heute noch von einer vollständigen und intakten Stadtmauer umgeben ist.
Die Gründung der Stadt geht vermutlich auf das 8. oder 9. Jahrhundert zurück. Die erste urkundliche Erwähnung konnte 1249 nachgewiesen werden. Seit dieser Zeit hat die Stadt natürlich die übliche wechselvolle Geschichte durch die Jahrhunderte und durch Kriegswirren hinter sich.
Heute ist dieses kleine Städtchen aber nach wie vor extrem sehenswert, vor allem durch den sehr gut erhaltenen und liebevoll renovierten Stadtkern. Aus diesem Grunde haben wir euch einen kleinen Stadtrundgang zusammen gestellt, an dessen Ende ein Cache auf euch wartet. Alle interessanten Gebäude der Stadt sind mit Info-Tafeln versehen. Damit euch die Athmosphäre der Stadt nicht entgeht vor lauter Suchen nach Zahlen, haben wir nur wenige Stationen für diesen Multi eingerichtet. Den Rest dürft ihr gerne selbst entdecken.
Stage 1 - Oberes Tor
Das Tor entstammt dem 15. Jahrhundert. Wann wurde es umgebaut? A= ______
Bitte biegt jetzt ab in die Schulstraße.
Stage 2 - Stadtkirche
Wann wurde der Turm fertiggestellt? B = ______
Stage 3 - Baderhaus / Stadtbrunnen
Vor diesem ehemaligen Haus für den Bader und Wundartzt findet ihr einen Brunnen.
Wieviele Wappen trägt dieser Brunnen? C = ____
Hier seht ihr dann auch das untere Tor vor euch. Ein Gang an dem Tor vorbei zum Wassergraben lohnt sich auf alle Fälle. Hinter dem Tor kann auch noch das alte Wachhaus besichtig werden.
Eine Infotafel am Wassergraben lässt euch einiges übder die geschichtliche Entwicklung der Stadt Merkendorf wissen. Ein Stadtplan ist hier ebenso zu finden.
Unser Weg führt uns allerdings aber weiter, zurück durch das Tor dem Marktplatz entgegen.
Stage 4 - Info-Tafel
Auf dieser Info-Tafel findet ihr die detaillierte Beschreibung eines Reliefs, welches an Stage 5 zu sehen ist. Hier gibt es keine Aufgabe, aber eine interessante Geschichte zu lesen.
Stage 5 - Rathaus
Vor dem Rathaus findet ihr einen ansehnlichen Brunnen, welcher Marktszenen zeigt. Am Rathaus selbst befindet sich das an Stage 04 beschriebene Relief.

Stage 6 - Zehntscheune
Hier gibt es noch einmal eine Info-Tafel mit einer etwas detaillierteren Beschreibung der Stadtgeschichte.
Im Mittelalter gab es natürlich auch schon Steuern. Die reichen Stadtbürger entrichteten diese mit barer Münze. Die arme Landbevölkerung allerdings musste jeweils den zehnten Teil ihrer Ernte dem jeweiligen Herrscher überlassen. In diesem Haus wurden die materiellen Abgaben gelagert.

Merkendorf is a small and quite village in the area of Ansbach, County of Mittelfranken. It is one of the less numbers of villages, which has an intact wall around the inner city core. The city was founded in the 8th or 9th century. The first time you can find the village name in some documents was around 1249 a.C.. Since this year the village had a most eventfull history like most of the older villages in this area.
Today this village ist one of the most scenic places in the area. The houses are well preserved, almost in good conditions and were out back in the original state. Because of the lovely inner city we have created a short and scenic walk around through this place. You'll find a number of information plates on some of the buildings. We reduced the number of stages to a minimum so that you can "breathe" the athmosphere of this place with a small amount of stops. You are free to discover all of the other nice looking houses which are not included in this multi-cache.
Stage 1 - Upper city gate ("Oberes Tor")
This city gate was built in the 15th Century. When it was rebuilt ("umgebaut")? A= ______
After the gate please turn right into the "Schulstrasse".
Stage 2 - City-Church
At which year the church tower was finished? Search for the german word "Turm". B = ______
Stage 3 - Baderhaus / Village-Fountain
In this house once the local doctor resided. In front of this house you'll found a small fountain. On the sides of the basin you can observe some emblems (which shows the counties, Merkendorf belongs to in the pas). How many emblems you can count? C = ____
Here you will find also the lower city gate ("Unteres Tor"). Walk by on the left side to a water ditch. It's worth it because of the nice view. On the left hand side of the gate you can see the old guardhouse ("Wachhaus").
On the right hand side you will find a city map with an information plate in german language about the city history.
After you've dsicovered all of the places please pass the gate again heading the inner city.
Stage 4 - Information plate
Sadly this information plate is only in german language. It describes a relief you can discover at the next stage. The plate tells a story about the visit of a german emperor to the city of Merkendorf.
You won't nee the informations on the plate to find the final.
Stage 5 - City hall ("Rathaus")
In front of the city hall you'll find a nice fountain which includes scences from a farmer market (because you are here on the market place). At the wall of the city hall you'll find the relief (described on the plate at stage 4). In the center you'll find the emperor. To the left you'll find the city inhabitants and on the right the entourage of the emperor.

Stage 6 - "Zehntscheune"
At this building you'll find again an information plate (sadly again only in german) for the cities history.
In the Middle Ages the city inhabitants had to pay taxes as well as today. The rich citizens paid them with money, but the poor citizens resp. the farmers had to pay the taxes with a part of they yearly harvest. Mostly it was the "tenth" part of their harvest, so the taxes was called "tithe" ("Zehnte"). In this building the harvest was collected.

Stage 7 - Latin-School ("Lateinschule")
Once this was a school where the children learned the latin language. In later years it was converted into an elementary school. At which year the house was rebuilt ("umgebaut")? F = ______

Here you are at a tower of the city fortifications. On an informationplat you can identify three numbers. The largest one is: G = ______
