Walk around the Golden Cross Mine area
Short 4 part multi around the mine area.
The mine closed in 1998 after producing 20.5 tonnes of gold and 52 tonnes of Silver between 1991 and 1998. Worth $NZD430m at 2001 prices. The operation became the modern mine in NZ to successfully move into planned closure and final rehabilition.
Come and see what has become of the mine,with the lake with birds.
Today the tailings pond has been rehabilitated and is home to several species of wading birds and water fowl.
