Moinhos do Corvo

Moinhos de Vento e Vista Panorâmica da Vila Nova do Corvo

Traçado de inspiração muçulmana e construção entre os séculos XIX e XX, fazem parte do Inventário do Património Histórico e Religioso da ilha do Corvo.

Apresentam-se como um conjunto de três moinhos fixos, cujo corpo de construção se apresenta tronco-cónico e em alvenaria de pedra. Dois dos moinhos são rebocados e caiados a cal de cor branca. Estes moinhos apresentam-se com uma cobertura de forma cónica e giratória, feita de madeira. Desta cobertura emerge o mastro das varas que dá suporte ao velame de formato triangular e muito raro do seu género nos Açores.

Estes moinhos encontram-se assentes sobre uma base elevada e de forma circular, sendo acessíveis através de escadas de lances simétricos e divergentes.

O único vão que se apresenta nestes moinhos é a porta de entrada, que se encontra elevada em relação à base. Tem-se acesso a esta porta através de escadas de lances simétricos convergentes encostadas ao corpo tronco-cónico. Apresentam-se com um estado de conservação considerado bom.

Wind Mills and Panoramic Sight of Vila Nova do Corvo

Traced with Muslim inspiration and buildet between centuries XIX and XX, are part of the Inventory of the Historical and Religious Monuments of Corvo island.

They are a set of three fixed mills, whose body of construction if presents trunkated cone and in rock masonry. Two of the mills are towed and painted with white whitewash.

These mills are presented with a covering of conic and revolving form, made of wood. Of this covering the mast of the poles emerges that of the support to the sails of triangular format and very rare of its type in the Açores.

These mills meet seat on a high base of circular form, being accessible through launches of stairs  symmetrical and divergent.

The only openning that it is presented in these mills is the entrance door, that if finds high in relation to the base. The access to this door is through stairs that has launches symmetrical convergent leaned to the trunkated cone body. They present a considered state of good conservation.
