Geocache Description:

Located south of Rapid City on US 16, downhill from the Black Hills Interpretive Site pullout.

Just a fun little cache so you can take a short break and stretch as you're on the road. The Cache is near the Black Hills Interpretive Site located off the southwest bound lane of US Highway 16 near Rockerville, and a couple hundred feet from the Strato Bowl Road. Parking coordinates are N43 58.053, W103 20.882. There used to be another cache nearby this area that is now archived. This is not the same Cache or location.

This is our 5th Cache. We chose the "Stray Cat" name to gently remind us of all the stray "cats" that live in the Black Hills, and of course to continue the "furrball" theme. Although the chances are slim that you will meet one of these sometimes not so pleasant "kitties" here at this exact location, be aware that there are a couple of hundred Mountain Lions that call the Black Hills their home. Although unprovoked attacks on humans are relatively rare, if you ever happen to run across one, they are not to be petted.

This Cache is a small Lock n Lock container. The Cache contains a small assortment of trade items, a pencil and a log book, and there is enough room if you want to swap or drop off small travel bugs.

Please practice good stealth especially during tourist season, as the Cache is fairly close to the road, but is still hidden by the trees and slope of the hill. Be sure to re-hide the Cache well so it is not easily discovered by random muggles. There is a private property fence line about a hundred feet to the north and downhill of the Cache site, do not cross this fence. Also take into consideration that the GPS coordinates are not perfect, as there are many trees in this spot making 100% accuracy tough. However, when you're close it will be apparent where the Cache is.

Have fun and happy Caching!

Congratulations to zacknmom for FTF and claiming the prize!!! Woot!!!!!
