A traditional size cache, and an easy walk from the road but not suitable for persons with mobility impairments or difficulty walking uphill.
In 1881, the first burial took place in the cemetery for the Warren State Hospital. Over the years, 954 persons were buried on this quiet hillside overlooking the valley. For the most part, the graves were marked with simple ground level markers. These markers provided no name or dates of birth and death and were quickly obscured by the vegetation.
Over time, the cemetery became neglected and commercial development threatened part of the burial ground. Then in 2006 a Cemetery Restoration Committee was formed. The grounds were cleared and the group undertook the difficult task of identifying the name, and dates of birth and death for each person buried there. Finally, headstones with engraved plaques were provided for every grave. The cemetery was rededicated on September 26, 2008.
Please treat this spot with the solemn respect it deserves. Park at the road, and walk to the cache. There is no need to walk on grave sites, and no night caching please.
