ace-357: Thanks to all who visited. It is time to let this cache go -- it's had a good run, but I am no longer able to keep it maintained.

There is a New York Historical marker that says "Joseph Morgan, Revolutionary War Capt., first settler in Chili in 1792, supplied seed grain to whole region and set out one of the first orchards. (1959)" Morgan Road was named after him. Joseph Morgan died in February of 1829 at age 75 There are about ten other graves here, apparently dating from 1813 through 1837, but most of the stones are broken or illegible or both. Joseph Morgan's stone, a bit hard to read, was reportedly furnished by the Sons of the American Revolution, and there is a United States flag marking his final resting place. Google didn't have a lot more to say about him except that he brought his family to the area in 1792 and purchased land from a man named Peter Sheffer, who in turn had purchased the land from Ebenezer Allan. Sheffer never occupied the land; he lived in Wheatland. Morgan's son Joseph Jr. and his wife Talatha are buried in Oatka Cemetery in Wheatland, although they lived on Morgan Road in Chili. There is no parking on Scottsville Road, so park around the corner on Jarrett Road and make the short walk along the shoulder of Scottsville Road. Or have lunch at the nearby restaurant and leave your car there while you make a quick trip to the cemetery. Although the burials here are very old, it IS a cemetery, so please be respectful at all times and avoid night visits. Another fast FTF by Cimsagro4 and MDJL4FUN!. WAY TO GO!
