A small cache near an interesting rock formation
This striking rock formation is an artifact of mercury mining operations. The "Yellow Kid Junior" mine was behind this spire. Initially a tunnel, in the 1940s the tunnel roof was excavated, leaving a trench. You can still make out signs of this digging in the area around the cache. For whatever reason, this spire of rock was left behind. (Thanks to Kitty Monahan for the details of the site's history.)
This cache is in the same location as "Treasure Rock", GCJTH4 - a venerable Marky & Joani cache that first resided in this spot.
The cache container is ... well, let's just call it "unique'. Initially it was a simple waterproof match container. But thanks to Workerofwood, as of 10/03/20009 it's the original container from "Treasure Rock". It's quite small; won't hold any but the smallest trade items. Bring a pen. No climbing required, and it's just a few steps off trail.
