Geocache Description:

This cache is NOT at the posted coordinates.

This cache is intended to be found AFTER DARK1. Why after dark you ask? Because it’s fun, it’s different, and it’s a little bit spooky. Trust the “silvery eyes” for they will lead you safely through the darkness. Beware of the “eyes of fire”2 for they will stop at nothing to protect what is rightfully theirs! Boo-Whaa-Haa-haaaaa!

This is a family-friendly two-stage multi cache located in Evergreen West Park.  Park hours are 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM.  Give yourself a good ½ hour to complete the series.  Total hiking shouldn’t exceed more than a ¼ mile.  Watch your step as you will be traveling on and off the beaten paths.  Each cache can be found within just a few feet of the gruesome “eyes of fire”.  The Stage 1 cache will provide you with coordinates to the starting point for the Stage 2 final

STAGE 1: The coordinates provided are the starting point.  Get yourself to this spot AFTER DARK and use your trusty headlamp or flashlight3 to scan the nearby woods. You are looking for a ghostly set of silvery eyes. Once spotted, approach the eyes to find your entry point into the darkness (spooky eh?). Approach each set of eyes cautiously. Stand under their watchful protection and scan the darkness for the next set. Continue following these clues until the peaceful silvery eyes are replaced with fearsome “eyes of fire”! These evil optics indicate you’re close to the cache. Be brave, be diligent, be cautious, and behave!

STAGE 2 - FINAL: The coordinates from Stage 1 will provide your Stage 2 starting point. Once again, scan the woods to find your first set of silvery eyes and follow their lead until you locate the "eyes of fire". To sign the log you will need to be the bravest of the brave, the cleverest of the clever, the cacherest of the cachers, the uh… ummm… (well you get the point).4.  Good Luck!

Remember this is supposed to be FUN!!!5

Footnotes:
  1. This cache was NOT set up to be daylight-friendly.
  2. The “eyes of fire” are orange, triangular in shape, and are in groups.
  3. Hold light at eye level for the optimum reflectivity.  A headlamp works great.  The more powerful the light the easier it will be.
  4. There is potential for wet feet after a good rain or the spring thaw. Please plan accordingly.
  5. This is my first "night cache" so let me know what you think either in your log or via email. Thanks! Have fun!!!

FTF Honors: MNWild11 and ABaldEagle. Congrats guys. Don't spend the prize all in one place!
