Lake Bluff Bird Sanctuary
The Lake Bluff Bird Sanctuary is located in Manistee County, Michigan and part of the Michigan Audubon Society Bird Sanctuary system . The Michigan Audubon Society system comprises of over 5000 acres in 19 properties across Michigan.
The Lake Bluff Bird Sanctuary has over 1500 feet of Lake Michigan shoreline. Originally the area was landscaped as an arboretum, with interesting trees including a Giant Sequoia, California Redwood, Gingko and two Michigan Champion Trees. Many bird species migrate through the area since the sanctuary is situated in a major migratory flyway. There are lovely walking trails with beach access, and this sanctuary is open from dawn to dusk. When I was placing the cache, my husband saw the largest buck he had ever seen crossing the meadow area.
