Boogers are great stuff...well, at least they are made of great
stuff. I'm sure many of you may disagree, but it is true.
The main ingredient for a booger is snot; and although it is
another unpleasant thing to talk about, it is responsible for
keeping bacteria, from the air we breath, from entering our lungs.
Snot lines the tubes from our nose to our lungs and filters out all
the nasties that fly by. Cilia, little hairs in those tubes, move
the bacteria laden snot away from our lungs to our esophagus where
it gets dumped into our stomachs...ewww!
Some of that snot drips back out our nose and dries...along with
hoards of crud from the air we breath. And behold, we have a
booger.
Apparently, 70% of the population admits to picking their nose;
however, only 3% of those admit to eating the fruits of their
labors. My question now is, what happens to the other 97% of those
picked boogers? At GZ, I think I know.
