Geocache Description:

Small tupperware box, big enough for geocoins, along an old rail link.

Easy walk from Guisborough Forest visitor centre down the Teeslink with lovely view of the Topping.

Having driven down the Guisborough road loads of times and liked the side view of the Topping I was unable to find a suitable spot (too many cars).

I decided to see it i could get something via the Guisborough forest visitor centre and was pleasantly surprised. Following the kind permission of Redcar & Cleveland Council managed to place a cache with a side view.

The cache is located on the Tees Link a 17km trail which connects the Cleveland Way at Highcliff Nab to The Teesdale Way at Middlesbrough Dock.

Parking at the vistor centre, a gentle stroll down the old Guisborough to Middlesbrough railway route takes you to the site.

The railway was initiated by Joesph Peace to link the local mines to Middlesbrough. Originally for freight only it developed to take passengers charging 2d a mile.

The old Pinchinthorpe Railway station and the adjoining buildings are now private dwellings but the old track bed is a public walkway. From the visitor centre you pass these buildings and the old wooden waiting room, with an interesting information board telling you all you need to know.

Its a popular route with running, walking and dog loving muggles, however there is a handy bench to pause and watch the world (and his muggle) go by.

The path stretches on a good way past the sheep and cows etc. with lots of footpaths off it.

The cache itself is a bit further along, it is part of the Roseberry View series so please take note of the number on the lid (z=).

The bonus cache for the lot I will complete sometime (had to move the final spot).

Guisborough Forest and Walking centre is well worth an explore for walking (a number of circular walks), biking, kids playgrounds, a woodland workout on the Trim Trail, pond dipping etc. etc.

Car parking charge now introduced however its only £1 for the day.
