You may wonder, “Where’s Butte Falls?” But, if you come to
the Geo Party on Saturday, October 24th at 1:00pm, then you
will know…. it’s in the heart of some of the BEST geocaching area
in Jackson County!!
There are currently over thirty geocaches on the Butte Falls
Highway alone. If you take a side trip up Crowfoot Road you can get
another dozen, head up Cobleigh Road for about that many more, go
down Obenchain Road for several too! These are well maintained
roads that any vehicle can handle (unless it is snowing!).
For the more adventuresome, plan to go up higher and get some
lookout caches that are on the outskirts of town, or do some hiking
on the PCT near Fish Lake and grab some caches.
Wherever you decide to go, just be sure to end up in Butte Falls
at 1:00pm!! The event will be held at one of the local eating
establishments. If the weather is nice we can sit on the patio, but
if it’s inclement there will be room inside for all. No pizza at
this event, just good, downhome cookin’ from the main menu -
salads, burgers, etc. Please note, they do not take credit cards
or bank card, but will take checks or cash.
We will honor milestone cachers, play a game, and ogle over the
geocoins that need to be discovered. Please bring any trade items
you would like to show and/or share. Also, please log a “will
attend” if you are coming so we can be assured of enough seating
for all. If you have any questions, or can’t find Butte Falls, call
