Geocache Description:

Old bridge across the Trinity River. DO NOT PARK ON THE HIGHWAY! This cache has been place with permission from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

This cache is on the old bridge that crosses the Trinity River next to FM 428. Paking is available just to the NW of the cache. This can be a park and grab or a great hike to, or bike to, or kayak to cache since it is located on the Ray Roberts/Lake Lewisville Greenbelt Trail that runs along the Trinity River. This great trail runs from highway 380 on it's southern end all the way up to FM 455 on the northern end where it connects with the Elm Fork Trail that goes into Isle du Bois area at Ray Roberts Lake State Park. The Greenbelt trail is right at eleven miles long and this cache is about in the middle. My wife and I hike and bike here regularly and have seen deer, armadillo, bobcat (2), coyote, one mountain lion, road runners, several types of snakes (water moccasins, copper heads, green snakes and striped garter snakes), owls, hawks, buntings, the list can go on and on. Needless to say there is abundant wildlife along the trail. We have even seen an exotic chicken..... If you plan on hiking, biking or kayaking to the cache, there is a $7 per person usage fee. No climbing, leaning or any death defying acts are need to retrieve this cache. In other words, DO NOT CLIMB ON THE BRIDGE. The gates to the parking areas close at 10 so plan accordingly. Hopefully you will enjoy this trail as much as my wife and I do. Happy hunting!
