A traditional cache that is camo on top of camo and stashed off of a main trail. No real bushwhacking involved.
This cache is located in Mary Moore Searight Park off Slaughter Lane in Austin, Texas. It is a short walk from the main parking area along the running/hiking trail. Be sure to mind the park hours and regulations posted up at the main roadway.
The cache is a camoflaged up (really camo'd) ziplock twist'n lock quart sized container with cool swag. For the first to find, there is a 1937 Indian head/buffalo nickel in there in a really small ziplock baggie. Original swag is a pirate eye patch, play money in 50s and 100s (pretty real looking) $100, $25 and $10 poker chips...redeamable at any local casino..not. There is a plastic frog and several blue "marble type" stones. There are log sheets and pencils inside too.
Park in the main parking area, and follow the wide trail that leads off to the west, across the creek bed. People run on this trail so it cant be too bad. Once you cross the creek bed, you are pretty close. I suggest you cross the creek bed and then up the incline and around into a little clearing area to the west in order to conceal yourself from being seen. There is a faint trail here now. Its easier to attack it from here and stealthier than going at it from the creek side. Its also less muddy and wet..
No real clues to leave you. Theres nothing special to the hide location, except I thought it was a nice place to stop and get off of the beaten path to get out of the heat. I like the creek bed in this area. I looked and thought, not only can a cache hide be hidden here, but if you are stealthy enough, no one will see you there. You just have to look. Its pretty camo'd up...I hope my wife doesnt look too closely at her floral decorations in the house....
Once you're in there, you should be fairly hidden from people passing by. Use stealth please because this is placed near a really common area where there is alot of foot traffic.
