4.23. Unarchiving a Geocache

The archiving of a geocache is intended to be a permanent status. That is why only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ staff have the capability to unarchive it. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if it meets the current Geocache Listing Guidelines.

If a geocache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance it will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

This cache is within Araluen Botanical Park. It is open between 9am and 6pm. Spring is the best time to visit this cache, as all the flowers are in bloom, but it is lovely at any time of the year.

In 1929 J.J. Simons established a holiday camp for the Young Australia League in the deep shaded valley at Roleystone. Creeks running through the long valley created a cool moist climate, thus making it an ideal site for his dream garden. He called his valley, “Araluen”, an Eastern States aboriginal word meaning “singing waters”, “running waters” or “place of lilies”. Araluen features the Grove of the Unforgotten, built in memory of Young Australia League members killed in World War 1. Since 1990, the government has owned the Araluen Botanic Park Foundation. There are many beautiful species of trees, plants, and flowers to be seen in this “paradise found”.

You are searching for a black micro cache the size of a hide-a-key magnetic container, only its not stuck to anything metal. There is only a log scroll inside the cache, so only write the date and your handle/name. This cache is not for swaps, they won't fit, and neither will travel bugs. This cache would mostly be wheel chair accessible, only you would need help with the final grab (as its up high).

Geo-Dogs are not permitted in the park, and flower picking is strictly forbidden (if everyone who went there picked a flower, there would be nothing to enjoy!). Be prepared to climb a hill (there are steps OR a path). You will know you are in the right place when you see an old pergola. Cache is well above ground level. You may need to step up! You will need to bring your own pen. Please put the log sheet back inside the plastic bag, as im unsure how waterproof this cache will be.

The park management have very kindly agreed to participate within our geocaching community by letting us have this cache. But, you will need to pay $4 for an adult, and $2 per child (or $10 a family) for admission. In August/September the prices are double to get in. This is to support the up-keep of the gardens.
