A small lock n lock is hidden in the Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park (South), Indian Ridge area on the Terrace Trail. No bushwacking is required. The trail is hard crushed stone and easy to walk on. The trail goes a bit uphill at the woods, thus the 2.0 terrain rating. ALL METRO PARK RULES APPLY. Park is open from dawn to dusk. If you take a Travel Bug or GeoCoin, PLEASE track them properly! Thank You.
Welcome to our first cache hide. This is our favorite trail, so we thought it was appropriate to do our first hide in this park. Our goal was to get the permit and get it published before the fall color change! (Thank you, Tina)
From the parking location, you will see the Terrace Trail sign. This is the path that connects to the main trail which is a very beautiful trail! Turn left once you hit the main trail. As the trail enters the woods, you will start a nice uphill grade, and a beautiful scenic view to your right. Look closely and there is a good chance of seeing a buck on the hill across the ravine, since it seems to be a favorite spot for him. There is a bench to rest at, near the top of the hill, also a garbage can, so please practice CITO. Once the terrain levels off, the trail swings a little left. When you get close to the coordinates, you will notice an OBVIOUS path to your left, and by what you see, you will know you are in the right location. Remember that rules of metroparks state the cache must be located within a few feet of a trail and since this is considered part of the trail, those rules apply in this area also. Please do not dismantle anything, since it is NOT necessary!
There are 2 sets of bathrooms here and also a nice playground further down the parking lot. If you log a DNF, please feel free to email for additional hints and include details of your visit. We hope you enjoy our first cache hide. And don't forget to bring your own pen.
