Mayfield Defence Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ngaambul: As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it's been a number of months since the last owner note. I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

The cache is in a Park in Mayfield and is an easy find on flat terrain.

This is our first cache so we kept it simple. I drive past this location almost daily and it took me some time to realise it was a park, as there is nothing to really make it stand out. I noticed the marker one day and decided to check it out. It seems an Air Defence Battery was located nearby during the Second World War. While here take the time to visit the marker at S 32° 53.303 E 151° 43.664 to find out more about Newcastle's WW2 history.

The cache is an M&M container often used by MADSTARS. The cache contains a log and a pencil and there is not much room for swaps.

The park is adjacent to a major arterial so there will always be traffic but parking is not an issue. The area may be full of muggles from 8-9am and 3-4pm due to the local school.

Happy hunting.
