Geocache Description:

Mayfield is one of Newcastle’s largest and oldest suburbs. Whilst developing in the 1880’s, Mayfield attracted well-to-do Novocastrians who chose to live in villas on the outskirts of the city. It also became a residential area for workers in the nearby steelworks and other industries. However, pollution from these industries saw many of the more wealthy families relocate. Mayfield has many old buildings many of which are now being restored or redeveloped. We found this spot while looking at houses when we first arrived in Newcastle and thought it was worthy of sharing. The outlook faces north and looks across the river and Kooragang Island.

The cache is a small tin with a wire handle attached to make it easier to retrieve. The cache is in the face of the cutting but is within reach of the average adult, geo-minors may have difficulty reaching the hide. You do not need to climb or scramble in any way to find the cache. The handle means that you will not need to use anything other than your hand to retrieve the cache. Please take care not to damage the face of the cutting during the search.

The cache contains a log and a pencil and there is not much room for swaps.

This is usually a quiet spot so muggles shouldn't be an issue although it may get busy around school hours.

This is our second hide, happy hunting.
