Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series intended to showcase Wisconsin’s Rustic Roads (W.R.R.). Wisconsin Legislature established the Rustic Roads program in 1973 to preserve what remains of Wisconsin's scenic, lightly traveled roads.

These caches are usually hidden in the right of way at a spot of notable beauty with no bushwhacking required. Please be respectful of private property, protected lands, and the overall history of the area. Take your time, mind your speed, and most of all… enjoy your journey along the road less traveled.

This is an unusual cache for this series because it is not placed on an official Rustic Road... BUT this road is now officially a nominee for designation...PLUS, once you see the road you will understand how it really is the definition of rustic. ***If you would also like to nominate it to be recognized as an official Rustic Road, the forms can be found by clicking the Related Web Page link near the top of this page.

Brown Deer Court (and 26th Court which really is the same road) runs from County Road EE to County Road E in Waushara county. This section of road is 1.5 miles. Two thirds of the road is paved and passes through a scenic wooded canopy. The other third of the road (and yes, it really is a PUBLIC road even though you will swear it looks like a private drive) is unpaved and unleveled. It truly is one of the most rustic public roads I've ever encountered this far south in Wisconsin.

The cache is a matchstick container hidden within the right of way within the unpaved section of road. Unless you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle (or one you don't care about), you will likely NOT want to approach GZ from the east. You will want to approach GZ from the west and choose to park at the provided coordinates to walk the 1/6 of a mile to GZ. If you do have an adventurous spirit (and vehicle) go ahead and take it on. While this is a public road and the cache is in the right of way, both sides of the road are private property and most likely used for hunting. (Keep that in mind when approaching it) There is NO REASON to go more than a few feet off the "road" to get the cache.

Some friendly tips: I have no idea what condition this road is kept in the winter, so while the hide is winter accessible this section of road may not be. Also, my caches are usually always camo'd to fit in with the surroundings in some way, not with duct tape.

Please take care with retrieving and replacing the cache to save the experience for the next cacher. (Place it the wrong way, and it might get "lost" for good.) Happy hunting and enjoy the drive!
