The cache is located in the parking lot of the L&S Shopping Center in Ardmore, Alabama. One of my memories from many years ago was listening to the radio for the winner of the weekly jackpot prize from the two L&S stores. (The other store was in Athens, but closed in 2011.) Shoppers would register to win a weekly prize.
Stores like this are an increasingly rare breed. Fortunately there are still some locally owned grocery stores. They don't have a lobster tank or an auto service center, but you can get your groceries without hiking for miles.
The cache is located in front of Fred's, a discount store that also contains a pharmacy and a Radio Shack franchise inside. Fred's is closed on Sundays if you want to minimize the chance of interaction with non-cachers in the parking lot.
This shopping center is located along Alabama 251, which was formerly the Bee Line Highway / U.S. 31. If you go south 251 will take you to Athens (and today's U.S. 31). If you go north the street ends in a few blocks. You can turn left and get to I-65. If you continue across I-65 you can continue on U.S. 31 through Tennessee. If you turn right Alabama 53 will take you to Huntsville. Railfans will be interested in CSX's Ardmore siding a few blocks to the west. If you go north to the end of 251 and turn either direction you will quickly find several restaurants.
The cache container has a blue lid. Be careful about reaching in blindly because someone may use the hide location as a trash can.
