Geocache Description:

This should be a quick P&G, especially good for those traveling up or down I-85. I have long thought a cache was needed at this exit off I-85, but there was not a really good spot. Today I met the nice owner of this property and she granted permission for this cache to be placed here.

Those cachers old enough will recognize the origin for the gate's components when they drive up. These are wheels from an old horse-drawn Hay Raker. These were used on farms to gather hay or grain into piles for drying and gathering. To access this cache from I-85: If you are traveling Northbound take Exit 56 and turn Right on Hwy 14. If you are traveling Southbound, you must exit a good ways before so take Exit 57/56 and go down that stretch. If you try to wait til you get to 56 you will not be able to get off there. When you get to Hwy 14, turn Left. From either, take the first Right on East Phillips Rd. Then turn Right on Shelter Dr. You will then go Right on what seems to be a turn but is actually E Shelter Dr. As you approach the cache location, you can pull off the road at the location OR just before that is a dead-end road that is actually no longer a road. This is the property owner's drive now. She jokes that the state told her when they put the road through her property that she now had the only driveway with a double yellow line down the middle. This is a good place to park. NOTE: you do NOT need to enter the field or cross the fence at all. Please stay on the outside of the field's fence. The container is easy to access from the road-side of the gate. You are searching for a magnetic key holder painted to match its surroundings. Be careful of trucks coming down this side road. Watch out for thorns. HAPPY CACHING! FTF HONORS GO TO...gpsfun!!!
