Look before you leap Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

chimpa: Cache was rumbled some time ago, and I have not replaced it. Archiving, as I am no longer actively participating in Geocaching since the large scale move to Premium-Only caches around Australia. What was once a free-to-play and welcoming game that was open to all has become too close to an exclusive pay-to-play club, and this makes me sad.

Geocache Description:

Planning your route to GZ is as much of a challenge as finding the cache. This one is not too hard, and a suitable path should be fairly easy to spot. GZ offers amazing sunset views, so perhaps try this one at the end of the day.

Noting that Kenmore was relatively devoid of caches (well, compared to the Centenary Suburbs...), I set out to place a few on a quiet weekend. This was the first, and I chose to put it in one of those "Oh, I've always meant to go and visit that place" locations.

A careful "look before you leap" approach is advisible, as scoping possible entry points before you start will yield one particularly easy path. Those with suicidal inclinations (pun intended) can try the "direct" path. The terrain rating is tentatively listed as 3-star, but depending on your route, you could be facing a 2 or a 4-star terrain.

Due to the steep slope, I don't recommend this one for tiny children, but it's not really a dangerous cache for those who can take care of themselves.

Cache is a plain 200ml Sistema, Bring your own pen.

Please replace with appropriate camoflage (no need to overdo it!), as this cache has been muggled before.

Note on coords - the coordinates listed above are according to Google Earth and Google Maps. My GPS had trouble centering, possibly due to reflection off the hill. An average of the four GPS readings I took at GZ gave me quite a slightly result of S 27° 30.283 E 152° 56.370. If your GPS gets mixed up like mine, just look for the best view and some solid ground, and you'll be practically standing on the cache!

Important: When I first placed this cache, it seemed possible to access it from above. Since that time, signs have been placed on the adjacent land declaring it to be private property, so please only enter from below. Although some of the fences alongside GZ have fallen down, it is still quite clear where the boundary is - please respect it (not only is it polite to do so, it will also narrow your search dramatically! Everyone wins!)

UPDATE 31/08/13: Performing some maintenance on this cache today and spotted what appears to be the stump of an old street light on the approach to GZ, with some visible wiring. Please be aware that the cache is NOT in (or even near) this electrical box. Don't want people getting injured!
