The Provincial Cemetery also know as THE OLD MAN's
1895-1974
This the "Home Cemetery" became the final home of BC's oldest pioneers, fur traders and gold prospectors as well as the poor and indigent.
The cemetery was in conjunction with the Old Man's Home built in 1894 on Columbia Street. The Home eventually was torn down to make room for the Kamloops Courthouse. (During the excavation several skeletons of inmates of the old jail were unearthed.)
The cemetery is 4 acres at 6th and Douglas and contains over 1000 untilized plots however there are only five headstones or markers.
