Come join us at the Redwood Lodge in the Arcata Community Redwood Forest for a day of food, finds, and fellowship. The event will begin at noon with registration. You will get a listing of all the permanent caches in the area. There will be an icebreaker activity to help everyone meet each other. Then a Geocaching tutorial. Plenty of volunteers will be on hand following the Geocaching 101 class to assist and work with newcomers. There will be formations of teams to help the newcomers locate their first cache. We will be placing a small number of new caches in the area so you can hunt them before, after, or during the event. There will be a travel bug table for trading bugs and coins and we will have maps of the surrounding forest posted for review, questions and discussion of access and other use issues. There will be a few caching games as well.
Bring your own GPS. And if you have an extra one, please bring it for those who are just learning to cache. Clearly mark the extra GPS for a quick and easy return at the end of the event.
The city of Arcata graciously donated the facility which includes a playground for children. In order to give back to Arcata Parks and Recreation, we are having a raffle and a plan to donate the proceeds to the Redwood park. We are accepting donations for the raffle, if you wish. Please post a "Will Attend" log and include anything you intend to bring. Thanks!!! When confirming attendance, please include how many will be attending in your party to help us better plan for the event. We look forward to seeing you there and having a fantastic event. Thanks again!!!!
