The
Lost Coast Geocachers
Umbrellas and Ringtones
Saturday,
November 14, 2009
10:00
– 10:15 a.m.
Do
you want to be a part of Geocaching history?
The Basic
Idea:
A “Flash Mob”
Gathering of Geocachers. Only 15 minutes long! You
must be
present and sign a log sheet during this time to claim the event.
Your log sheet is also a raffle ticket to win an unactivated
LCCF Geocoin or a Golden Harvest Gift
Card.
You’ve heard of
Mega-Events? This is quite the opposite in a variety of ways. A
flash mob
is a large group of
people who assemble suddenly in a public place, do something
unusual for a brief period of time, and then quickly disperse.
Flash Mobs originally gathered for other reasons and have become
worldwide geocaching events. Come be part of this historic
event! The theme for
this event combines two successful WWFM ideas from Brussels and
Antwerp: Umbrellas and
Ringtones. Remember to
bring an umbrella, cell phone, and a writing utensil.
We will meet
inside
the Bayshore Mall in
front of the now defunct Gottschalks, just past the children’s play
area. Following the signing of the log cards and
gourmet
banquet, everyone will
open their umbrellas and activate their cell phone
ringtone. The whole
thing only lasts 15 minutes, so don’t be late.

There may be several
muggles nearby who will wonder, “What did I just see? What just
happened?” (That’s part of the fun!) If any muggles are curious
about the event we will have a volunteer hand out fliers that
explain geocaching.
Tell your friends and
help promote the event!
Please bring a pen or
other writing utensil to the event.
Congratulations to Enbay1 for claiming the FTF! And congratulations
to the following raffle winners: dbirdman (and catlady), sweetj,
and Humspuds.
