Short Description: The decathlon begins at a place the locals call 5 corners. Choose the road you will travel carefully! This is an easy beginning to what may prove a challenging series!
Beginning July 1, 2011, you will need to display the Discover Pass on your vehicle when visiting state recreation lands managed by the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Long Description: The Decathlon is an athletic event consisting of 10 track and field events.
Traditionally, the title for the World’s Greatest Athlete has been given to the person who wins the Decathlon.
So here’s an opportunity for Cachers worldwide to participate in the Mount St. Helens Geocaching Decathlon. Some of the caches in this decathlon are quite easy. Some will require agility, balance and physical stamina and exertion like few caches you’ve ever found. All will require map-reading skill, thought and planning.
These hides are not like your typical stroll in the woods. Be smart, be prepared. Food, water and clothing for the extreme weather changes that can suddenly happen up there are a must!
Auto-routing will not be your friend here. The backdrop of all these caches is Mt St Helens and the breathtaking vistas that surround this incredible area. The views themselves are well worth the trip, even without the caches so don‘t forget your camera and binoculars!
All of the caches are hidden to protect them from the elements, not just to make them hard to find. Please replace them in a similar manner. Congratulations Photoburpee and W1370 on the FTF!
