This is a small traditional cache which contains room for trades.
This cache was placed for the KACHE2 event, the Kingston Area Geocacher's big annual get together. There are so many great caches along the abandoned railway right-of-ways in and around Kingston and Frontenac. This cache is hidden on a short section of trail where the Cataraqui Trail runs parallel to the Kingston & Pembroke line. The Cataraqui Trail (which, here, is the former Kingston, Napanee and Western Railway) links Harrowsmith and Sydenham and is a well developed foot/cycling/snowmobiling path. The K&P in this section is now owned by the County of Frontenac, but is still an undeveloped path in parts. The County is working towards it being an excellent link to the City of Kingston’s K&P Trail and an ideal continuation of the Trans-Canada Trail. [Postscript: Since about 2018, the K&P Trail is now in excellent condition.] The cache is located next to the visible but undeveloped K&P right-of-way and if you carry on further east you will see how the two former railroads bend away from one another. .
