Geocache Description:

UPDATE: This cache was adopted by HiCapVoyagers when the original owner was leaving the area. As of spring 2021 they are doing some construction and remodeling in the area. Some cachers have still been able to locate it, but please heed all signs that may eventually ask you to stay out of active construction zones.

Message from the iI felt the need for cache here since I drive by regularly to pick up or drop off my daughter in Naches. I placed the difficulty rating as a 3.5 due to the heavy muggle presence at times when there are sporting events going on. The park was a dream of a group of local residents to provide a quality facility for our youth sports in the Upper Valley. The “Naches Boot & Spur Club” donated their property, including the clubhouse in January of 1999. An association with elected Board members and By-Laws was established to oversee the development and management of the Park. It received a not-for-profit status, 501 C3 from the state in July of 1999. Through grants, fundraisers, volunteer labor, in-kind and monetary donations, the baseball compound was developed. At the same time the area surrounding the clubhouse was landscaped, the driveway and parking area was asphalted, and minor improvements were made to the clubhouse. In November of 1999, Allan Bros. donated the adjoining eleven acres to the west of the park grounds with the purpose of further development of the sports park. The four tennis courts were completed in spring of 2003 with grants and a donation from the Naches School District. Irrigation to the fields and lawns surrounding the tennis courts area was completed as a senior project by Chris Ranger in the spring of 2004. During the summer of 2005, the local Mt. Cleman Garden Club held a tree- drive to plant Honor Trees throughout the developed park grounds. Thirty-eight trees were planted that November to honor many of our local citizens. The town of Naches annexed the properties west of Allan road, which included Cleman’s View Sports Park in March of 2007. Plans for future growth include two soccer fields, a small amphitheater, a playground, regulation horseshoe pits, additional parking, landscaping and irrigation, and a second restroom facility. Our communities and school district‘s budgets are stretched as the need for more facilities continue to grow. The Park holds an annual fundraiser in September, “Indian Summer Fest”. This fundraiser and the income received from the rental of the clubhouse currently provides for the basic expenses of the property. Volunteers are needed to maintain the park grounds and continue to make improvements and repairs to the facilities. The board is actively seeking opportunities to fund the continued growth of the sports park. Their mission is to provide a free venue for youth and adult outdoor activities, as well as a location for community events for the upper valley residents and for our future generations.
