Geocache Description:

This is my 1st in a series of cache's around Flowerdale Lagoon, after a short walk along the Wiradjuri Walking Track, parking is available at either end.

Flowerdale Lagoon is one of many similar billabongs along the banks of the Murrumbidgee River. The Flowerdale residence was erected in 1853. The first occupants, the Best family, were forced to move there from there original home on the river bank by a large flood in June 1852. During the early 1870s, a number of farmers near Flowerdale grew a variety of Sorghum known as the 'Planters Friend', hoping to establish a sugar industry. The cache is a screw top fruit jar containing swaps for the younger cacher's, log and pencil, however they may need a hand retrieving it, I am using this as a launching point for a Geocoin 'Porky Pig Cache Critter' on his journey around the world.
