Geocache Description:

This is the November 14th, 2009 RCGDS event:
Spicin' it Up in West Sac
Timeframe: 11:00 am to 2:00pm.

I consider myself to be a newbie to geocaching (still in my first year) but it feels like I have been doing this all my life given the countless friendships that have formed from RCGDS events and chance meetings in the field. I am honored that ecrane suggested that I host this event and welcome my fellow geocachers to West Sacramento! This is where I work (AND PLAY ON MY LUNCH BREAKS) placing the majority of my caches here this past year. It's always great to hold these events in new places, with new opportunities for adventures and cache finds. I'm happy to add West Sac to the mix for the RCGDS. WELCOME ALL!

LOCATION:
Given that this event is in November there was no guarantee of good weather, so I ruled out meeting at a park with the usual potluck setup. In order to play it safe I chose to hold the event at one of my favorite local Indian restaurants that will accommodate us all. They are even opening up their doors an hour earlier than usual just for our group which is awesome.

PARKING & SIGNING IN:
Upon arriving at the event coordinates you will find some parking in the long parking lot directly north of the restaurant and in the shopping center just north and west. As of 11am the doors will be open to us. Please stop at the table in front of the restaurant to sign the official event log and do your travel bug drop offs.

FOOD & JUST VISITING CARDS:
The main set up for food is a self serve all you can eat buffet that you will pay for upon leaving. The cost is $8.99 + tax per person. If you would prefer to purchase from the menu you can do that instead if you like. Just grab a waitress and tell them that this is what you would like to do. Also in the shopping center just northwest across the street there are other lunch options. There is a deli and a Chinese food place there if you prefer. I realize that Indian cuisine is not for everyone.

If you will be eating elsewhere please do not bring your outside food into the Indian restaurant. **IMPORTANT** If you are not eating at the Indian restaurant but are coming in to socialize you MUST STATE THIS TO ME AT THE SIGN IN TABLE. I will give you a specially made card that says you are "not eating, JUST VISITING". If you are questioned for payment upon leaving the event (which you in all likelihood will not be) you can flash the card I gave you to prove you are not an eater. The owner of the restaurant knows that not all participants will be eating and also knows about this card I will hand out.If you do not have this card it will be assumed that you took part in the buffet.

CACHING IN THE AREA:
You may stay and visit with fellow geocachers as long as you like at the restaurant, but be aware that the restaurant will be open to muggle-kind at 12 noon. Feel free to head out at anytime to eat up all the caches in the area :-) If anyone needs a hint on one of my caches, feel free to give me a call on my cell! You can ask me for the number at the event before leaving.

THANKS FOR COMING AND SPICIN' IT UP IN WEST SAC and for all your friendships and mentoring. This is such a fun hobby and community that I feel honored to have come in contact with. Thank goodness my sister passed along that trail running magazine to me highlighting this hobby... What would my life be like without it?...:-)

GROUP INFO:
RCGDS stands for "Rivercity Geocaching and Dining Society" which has a website http://www.rcgds.net and a list serve to which you can easily subscribe. It is a loose-knit group of friends which you are automatically a member of it by virtue of reading this. On the second Saturday of each month we have a gathering somewhere in the greater Sacramento area. We hope to see you again in the future!
