Half a Dozen Tunnels Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

GumshoeTully: The final location has been muggled and not treated kindly by said muggle. The neighbor has in the past called the police thinking cachers were dropping drugs under the tree. I am going to shut down the tunnel cache for a while until I get another location for the final. Thanks to all that found the tunnels, there were some great stories. Sorry to all those that went to the chiropractor after your journey. Gum

Geocache Description:

This is a cache that will test the limits of your tollerance for darkness and enclosed spaces.

All clues are on the right side of the tunnels in big red letters done with spray paint.

!!!!!You do this cache as your own risk!!!!!

I, like many of you look at other peoples bookmark lists and find interesting cache ideas or see caches that would be great adventure. A while back I stumbled upon GCM03Z Pray For Daylight. Soon after, I was given a historic tour of Emporia and a tunnel that stretches from the north end of town to the south was pointed out to me. That got me thinking and exploring. Turns out, there is a series of tunnels that will take you through Emporia, underground nearly all the way.

This cache is an 8 stop puzzle cache. The first stop is at the listed coordinates. There you will find a golden ammo can that contains your puzzle piece and all of the clues you need to complete the journey.

To get to the final you must visit 6 tunnels under Emporia and decode a series of medievil runes. The key is on the game piece. Your final and 8th stop is the final and is a large ammo can painted like a pumpkin with great swag, not my typical clean out the junk drawer swag but good swag that I bought just for this cache. This cache is not for the faint of heart and is going to take several hours. This could possibly be the hardest you will have to work for a single smiley but to me this is what geocaching is all about. Some of the tunnels are somewhat modern and made of cement. Others were made at the turn of the century and are brick and mortar, these are very slippery so use extreme caution.

!!!!!You do this cache as your own risk!!!!!

For a time reference, to should not be traveling in any tunnel for more than 30 to 45 minutes, in and out depending on how adventurous you are. Feel free to use your PAF if you get in a tight spot.

If you are up for a challege, grap your flash light some extra batteries and your rubber boots and enter the bowels of Emporia.

Your first stop is in the tire. And the final cache is the best smelling cache in Kansas and is placed with knowledge of Emporia Habitat for Humanity.

FTF has a choice, one envelope has an unactivated TB, the other a piece of paper good for a six pack of my freshest home brew. Good Luck

Half a dozen pats on the back to PMTEC (spelling corrected of TWT as well, oops)for their FTF and FTvisit the chiropractor from this cache.
