urban_dwellers: As we promised if we weren't able to get back over here and fix this one we would let it go. So in order to not black anyone else who would like to place a geocache in this area we are archiving this one. Cache on.

Geocache Description:

Everytime I drive by here and look up at the architecture I'm reminded of a stone structure I visited nearly 30 years ago on a road trip from London to Land's End.  This was back when you could park next to it and walk right up and through it.  No viewing fee either I don't think.

Stonehenge is one of the most famous prehistoric sites in the world.  The monument was built in several phases spanning hundreds of years, from around 3000 BC to 1600 BC.

But its purpose has remained a mystery.  There have been plenty of theories.  One is that the great stone circle was a gigantic calendar, an observatory for studying stars, or a secular tool for calculating dates.  Some scientists are not convinced, as others are, that Stonehenge was a temple for worship.  Instead, they think Stonehenge was a site of healing, the ancient British equivalent of Lourdes.  Some researchers have claimed the stone circles were used as a giant computer; or that Stonehenge acted as a landing pad for alien spacecraft.

4000 years since its creation, Stonehenge still remains a mystery.  But don't make this cache a mystery.  Find it!

Congrats to dougandsuzy for FTF!
