Geocache Description:

Johnny Appleseed died on March 18,1845 in Fort Wayne, Indiana after more than 50 years of travel. His path through the East and Midwest is today dotted with many monuments to the memory of this man who fulfilled the Biblical requirements "To Do Justly, To Love Mercy and To Walk Humbly With His God." Credit to Leominster Historical Commission

Johnny was reborn in the present and he saw himself a Grand Illinois Trail to follow. (www.bikelib.org/trails/git/index.html) So he gathered his apples and appleseeds and set off on an adventure planting apples along the trail. He came to a large expanse of wetlands and fields where horses played and said to himself that this would be a good place for a tree. So he reached into his bag and pulled out an appleseed to plant. He then continued on his way watching the deer play as the sun shone down on his shoulders and the wind blew the cattails in a huge sea of green.

This cache was designed for bicycles but can be accomplished on foot with a minimum of effort. Park at N41* 57.043 W088* 14.480 it is a trail all the way with very little bushwacking.

This is just the first tree planted along the trail for Old Mr. Johnny Appleseed so look for them as they come out.

Happy Hunting
