Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series intended to showcase Wisconsin’s Rustic Roads (W.R.R.). Wisconsin Legislature established the Rustic Roads program in 1973 to preserve what remains of Wisconsin's scenic, lightly traveled roads.

These caches are usually hidden in the right of way at a spot of notable beauty with no bushwhacking required. Please be respectful of private property, protected lands, and the overall history of the area. Take your time, mind your speed, and most of all… enjoy your journey along the road less traveled.

This particular cache is a small container hidden along Rustic Road 102, a partially paved, but mostly sand road in Waushara County. It begins at its intersection with State Highway 21 as 9th Ave., turns west onto Cumberland Ave., and then proceeds in a northerly direction as 7th Dr. until meeting up again with State Highway 21. Total length is 2.2 miles.

Rustic Road 102 features roadside panoramas of native trees, prairies and dense woods that form a canopy in the spring and summer that turns golden in the autumn. This beautiful forest and field mix supports a multitude of wildlife including deer, red fox, pheasants and sandhill cranes, short-eared owls and many songbirds. Wildflowers such as wild geraniums, Solomons Seal and wild asparagus are abundant, and Amish buggies are a common sight. The route offers access to the Mecan River segment of the Ice Age Trail.

Some friendly tips: You should be able to pull over near GZ safely, depending on the recent weather you might want to be cautious about the edges so you don’t get stuck. Also, my caches are usually always camo'd to fit in with the surroundings in some way, not with duct tape.

Please be respectful of private property and take care with retrieving and replacing the cache to save the experience for the next cacher. There is a "Found it" pin for the FTF. Happy hunting!
