A cache set to coincide with Halloween 2009. Swaps aimed at the
kids (some themed). Finding the spot should be easy (waypoints also
given below), but I would suggest you do this at night, or even on
Halloween, if you dare! The cache is a medium box, but some other
items are also left for swapping around the tree if you have
something similar.
The Story of The Witch
--------------------------
There was once a witch, a good witch, a powerful witch. She wanted
to become as powerful as she could, so that she could solve all the
problems of the world around her.
But the more knowledge she drank, and the more powerful she grew,
the harder she found it to control her desires. Her power slowly
twisted and corrupted her, until all of her magic, no matter how
well intentioned, became as dark as the night. The witch could feel
herself sliding faster and faster down a spiral of evil, and
realised that she would soon become a creature of the shadows. So
with the very last ounce of white magic left inside her, she
trapped her soul in the base of a tree in dark wood.
But now with all goodness drained from her blackened heart, her
rotten soul sought ways to blight the world further. Soon
travellers through the wood started to go missing, with only the
odd possession found, or sometimes things much worse. The ghost of
one such traveller was trapped in the tree alongside the witch and
forced to haunt the pathways which surround it.
It is said that the witch has several hollows at the bottom of the
tree, one in which she keeps the remains of ill-fated travellers.
Another holds her white witches wand, from the days when she sought
only to do good. And finally, near where she sleeps, she keeps a
box filled with trinkets taken from her victims.
Should you find this tree, you will hopefully see the witch and the
ghost of the traveller resting at the bottom. If either one is not
there then beware! Only remove remains or the wand if you have
another to replace it, and if you take any trinkets, she may not
notice if you put something else in its place. Leave things as you
found them, and if the witch awakens you may just escape the fate
of those before you.
