It is on the trail of the last of them, the Rachalans, we train you. These farm workers, the poorest of the poor lived in our region two centuries ago. To improve their diet and finally have something on this earth, they started to conquer the Garrigue. They literally "built" the only force of arms, displaying great ingenuity to take advantage of a ground very ungrateful.
Les capitelles:There is no prehistoric! The capitelles served as shelter for Rachalans for plots in more remote. They were constructed with the only material available in abundance in the Garrigue: stone!
This allowed to make good use of rocks that were removed from the ground to make land cultivable.
The capitelles construction techniques are particularly ingenious. They are detailed on the circuit interpretation of “La Combe des Bourguignons”.
Access: From Marguerittes, follow the road Poulx after the motorway bridge, turn left. After about 500m, turn right, access to “la Combe des Bourguignons » is signposted 200 m farther (3 min drive).
