Waypoint 1 Has had to be removed as it has been going missing too often
Waypoint 2 ( Final) Is a very popular picnic spot, well over a hundred years old.
The first picnic recorded was in 1897. In 1853 Edward Peters ( known locally as Black Pete) camped by the river, and while cleaning the dishes, and having worked in the Californian Gold Fields, decided to pan for gold. He found enough to turn into a ring, that is held by the Otago Settlers Museum.
However it was Gabriel Reid who, having learned of Petersβ find, set off looking for gold, and in 1861 laid claim to finding gold in Central Otago.
Edward Peters will not be forgotten, as the Glenore Memorial Trust has erected a memorial to him.
The cache is a small camo container, it has in it a log book, pencil and a few swaps.
