The land popularly known as “M Hill” and “Cowboy
Hill” has undergone a total transformation since its purchase
by the Hanson-Larsen Memorial Park Foundation. The private,
non-profit Hanson-Larsen Memorial Park Foundation has built over 12
miles of world class biking, hiking and running recreational trails
on 300 acres of pristine Black Hills wilderness near the heart of
Rapid City’s historic downtown district.
Clues: There are many trails that will take you to the
cache. I would suggest park at N44*05.039 and W103*15.117. You will
then cross the Rapid Creek bridge and find two trails, chose the
trail at N44*05.088 and W103*15.127. If you can stay on the bike
trail that leads north just below the cache location, you are in
for a comfortable hike; however, the temptation to take the direct
route could prove for a rough hike.
An alternate starting location if you would like an easier hike to
the hill would be to park at N44*05.181 W103*14.495 and take the
near by gated dirt road up to the base of M-Hill.
History: There is a lot of history on this hill. Each
graduating class has a place marker with the graduating seniors.
The "D" letter has a majority of the markers; however, the "M"
letter has more of the school's history carved into it.
Cache is in a small plastic box with a Green Geocache label
Happy Caching!
