Kedainiai – vienas iš septyniu Lietuvos miestu, turinciu unikalu istorijos ir urbanistikos paminkla – senamiesti. Miesto istorija skaiciuojama nuo 1372 m, kai Kedainiu vardas pirma karta paminetas Hermano Vartberges “Livonijos” kronikoje.
