A walk along the old road bed east of Lyle. About a 100 years ago you could have driven your Model T down this road. What a rush that must have been.
We have been wanting to check this out for a while and finally got around to it. You can get to the cache by using the Cherry Orchard trailhead located just east of Lyle. Take a look at the monolith as you go past. You could hide dozens of caches in all those nooks and crannies.
Head up the trail until you can see the old roadbed heading east. You will have to climb up a slight hill to get to the level. There are lots of rocks that have fallen down on the old road but you can easily head east. You can see the rock work that was done along the base of the road. I'll bet there wasn't much speeding on this road!. Follow the road bed along until you come to the end. Time and gravity have taken care of the rest of the road for quite a ways.
The cache is an ammo can full of goodies. There is an unactivated geocoin for FTF. There is some poison oak but you can miss it.
