The cache is located on the Yorkshire Wolds Way, a 79 mile Long Distance Footpath linking Hessle with Filey. It is probably the quietest, most peaceful National Trail in the country.
The path can get very muddy at this point so suitable footware is required. It is a sheep grazing area therefore dogs must be kept on a lead.
Thixendale is a tiny village and civil parish in the Ryedale District of North Yorkshire, about 20 miles east of York.
The church of St Mary is on the Sykes Churches Trail devised by the East Yorkshire Churches Group.
Volunteers from the village serve refreshments on Sundays 11am to 4pm at the refurbished village hall. There is a village shop and The Cross Keys Public House which are open daily.
See: www.thixendale.org.uk for more details.
The cache is a small Tupperware-style container.
Originally the cache contained:
Log book, pen and pencil (please leave in cache)
Geocache stash card
RSPB - 'a million voices for nature' Travel Bug
Sectional wooden mouse
Orange highlighter
Culzean 2009 keyring
Heart shaped rubber
Rose pin badge
