The cache is located on the Centenary Way (North Yorkshire), an 83 mile Long Distance Footpath from Filey Brigg to York Minster.
This is a sheep grazing area therefore dogs must be kept on a lead.
The route was devised to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Yorkshire County Council. It runs across the Howardian Hills and Yorkshire Wolds via Castle Howard and Wharram Percy, linking York and the Foss Walk with the Yorkshire Wolds Way and Cleveland Way National Trails. Meeting the Derwent and Foss, it combines riverside walks in deep valleys and forest tracks.
Thixendale is a tiny village about 20 miles east of York. Refreshments are available at The Cross Keys Public House, the Old Post Office village shop and on Sundays at the refurbished village hall from 11am until 4pm.
See: www.thixendale.org.uk for more details.
The church of St Mary, Thixendale is on the Sykes Churches Trail, a tour of East Yorkshire Churches which were built, rebuilt or restored by the Sykes family of Sledmere House.
