Live, Laugh, Love Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

JessupFamily: Per City Ordinance, no caches are allowed within cemetery areas.

This cache is respectful, taking people to the graves of a former govenor, tiny babies from WW II and a funny tombstone. I've never seen anything but respect from anyone at these locations.

Thank you for finding and enjoying this cache... hopefully the city will come to understand better what it was.

Geocache Description:

Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today,
To-morrow will be dying.
The glorious lamp of heaven, the Sun,
The higher he's a-getting;
The sooner will his race be run,
And nearer heòs to setting.
That age is best, which is the first,
When youth and blood are warmer;
But being spent, the worse, and worst
Times still succeed the former.
Then be not coy, but use your time,
And while ye may, go marry;
For having lost but once your prime,
You may for ever tarry.
- Robert Herrick

The Fairview Cemetery is part of a long history for residents of Bastrop dating back to the mid-1800's. It is a beautiful and well maintained facility with numerous historical figures, many former soldiers of wars from the Civil and World War I among others. In wandering around the graves, we discovered a few notable sites... and invite you in joining us in paying our respects.

Each stage is significant to the name of the cache and each will provide a clue to the final stage, also within the cemetery. Go to each set of coordinates below and then answer each question. Use the answer to fill in the blanks for the final stage, listed below.

The final stage is an ammo can with the normal stash of trade items. Once you've found the cache, take a few moments to enjoy the view nearby - it is one of the best in the area.

Take the year that this historical figure was married, subtract 42 = A

In the plaque stated as being the "foot stone with a touch of humor" take the number of words on the foot stone and subtract 13 = B

As an aside - we searched for several hours for the actual grave with this marker and never found it. If you happen to know where this is located, please let us know so that we can update this stage and give credit to this humorous individual.

Count the number of crosses represented for this sign, subtract 1= C

I went to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately,
I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life,
To put to rout all that was not life and not when I had come to die
Discover that I had not lived.
- Thoreau
