A nice easy stroll accessible from either Victoria Avenue or Orakei Road.
Remuera has long been known as home to the wealthy and over the years hasn't changed much in either popularity or pedigree. Through the years, many well known 'celebrities' have graced the northern slopes with their presence.
In the 1880's and 1890's Victoria Avenue had only a handful of homes which were sited on larger than average sites, surrounded by bush which was considered a playground for the wealthy where it was common for the local men to walk their dogs and return with a brace or two of pheasants. On the other side of this predominately teatree bush, Orakei Road was originally the Maori thoroughfare from the hills of Orakei back up to the main road. The four or five homes on Orakei Road were accessed by a number of 'lanes' which started off as private right-of-ways some of which then became the through roads between Victoria Avenue and Orakei Road.
The land in between was largely cleared earlier in the century then gifted to the crown around the 1940's and has since been maintained as a council reserve. This is where you'll find our first cache. Take the dog and the kids and enjoy this quiet little park in the heart of Remuera.
The cache is is a small camo'd snack box located out of sight of the surrounding houses, but beware of muggles appearing at any stage, more often than not, the four legged variety.
