The recommended parking for the 7 mile circular walk is in Thixendale village.
The suggested route for the walk is to follow the minor road west/northwest through the village, passing the Church, Old Post Office and Village Hall, keeping to the road through Water Dale for 2 miles until you reach Brownmoor Dale.
Turn left onto the public footpath that passes Brown Moor Farm to reach the Roman Road. Cross the road with care and continue on the footpath opposite in a southerly direction until you reach the Chalkland Way on Deepdale Wold.
Continue straight on until you reach a minor road (do not turn right down Hanging Grimston). Turn left, passing Wold Farm, continue until you reach the Roman Road again. Turn right and walk along the road for ½ mile (take care, this road can be very busy) then turn left continuing to follow the Chalkland Way back to Thixendale village passing Thixendale Grange, through Milham Dale and Thixen Dale and coming back into the village on the same minor road at the beginning of the walk.
Update: This is now the only cache left on the suggested walk, but it is still worth a visit for the view, and it's still a good walk.
