Geocache Description:

This is a multi-cache dedicated to our ever-faithful Suzuki Jimny 4wd cache-mobile.

This multi-cache is a 4wd challenge that will require you to tackle a couple of rough Banks Peninsula roads to collect the Lat and Long co-ordinates for the final cache, which is also located on a ‘4wd-only’ road. The waypoints are hidden in black-painted pill containers.

WP1: S 43 38.733, E 172 51.729
The first waypoint, which will give you the latitude of the final cache, is located at the end of Double Bay Road, near Pigeon Bay.

WP2: S 43 41.007, E 172 55.765
The second waypoint, which will give you the longitude of the final cache, is located at the top of Starvation Gully Road, also near Pigeon Bay. This road is reputedly the steepest road on Banks Peninsula, climbing to over 600 metres in only a few kms. A low-range gear box would be useful to help on the steep bits and will help save your brakes on the way down.

You can find the waypoints in any order.

The final cache is located on another road about 30 minutes drive from Pigeon Bay (or longer if you decide to check out any of the scenic 4wd routes on the way).

CAUTION NOTE:
We strongly recommend that only 4wd vehicles with a reasonable amount of ground clearance attempt this cache (or mountain bikes if you are into that sort of thing). Most of the roads are extremely narrow, so if you don’t make it to the top of the track you could be facing a steep and long down-hill reverse.

Although all the tracks are public roads, please be respectful of the farm land through which you will pass. In particular:
- Leave gates as you find them.
- Don’t disturb stock, especially during lambing season (August – October)
- Stick to the formed tracks
- Drive safely!

At the final waypoint you will find a black-painted vegemite jar with a logbook and the usual swaps.
