För ett tag informerade vi dig om att allt inte verkade stå rätt till med din cache och bad dig då ta reda på hur det stod till, samt åtgärda eventuella problem. Då det inte syns några tecken på att du gjort det, kommer jag nu att arkivera din cache.

Geocache Description:

Stockholms första centralstation, byggd 1895. Hit och till Södra station på södermalm gick järnvägen före att man knutit ihop stambanan över Riddarholmen och därefter byggt den nuvarande centralstationen.

Expeditionshuset är troligtvis ritat av Adolf Wilhelm Edelsvärd och är ett ståtligt exempel på 1890-talets tegelarkitektur. Långfasaderna mot Lilla Bantorget respektive spårområdet är mycket välbevarade medan gavelfasaderna i sina nedre partier visar spår av senare bortrivna lägre anslutande flyglar kopplade till stationens godsmagasin. Huset är uppfört i maskinpressat tegel med kraftfulla mönstermurningar och dekorativa band i svartbränt tegel.

Invändigt har planlösningen i huvudsak bevarats trots ombyggnader under åren. Bottenvåningens gjutjärnspelare och trapphusets gjutjärnsräcke samt bevarade äldre fönster- och dörrfoder samt vissa bevarade dörrar har kulturhistoriskt värde. Kakelugnar och kaminer revs tyvärr när centralvärme installerades.

Byggnaden är ett byggnadsminne och skyddad enligt 3 kap. kulturminneslagen.

För trainspotters är detta en fin position att titta på inkommande tåg till Stockholm. Speciellt vid cachen!

Du bör inte vara kort i rocken för att hitta cachen.

Stockholm's first central station! Here and to the South Station went the railroad, before they were tied together with the main line and thereafter built the current central station.

The house was probably designed by Adolf Wilhelm Edelsvärd and is a magnificent example of 1890s brick architecture. The facade against the Railway Square is very well preserved while the gable facades of their lower batches show traces of later removed connecting wings. The house is built of pressed brick machine with decorative bands of black and burnt bricks.

Inside, the floorplan essentially preserved despite alterations over the years. See the house iron stair railing, and preserved old windows and some doors have been preserved cultural and historical value. Stoves and fireplaces probably demolished when the central heating was installed.

The building is protected according to Chapter 3, Heritage Act.
