Geocache Description:

Helppo peruskätkö. Talvisin varottava liukkautta ja tulva-aikaan vettä. Easy trad, be careful; slippery and water

Paikka sijaitsee Rengonkylässä, kohde on saari Seinäjoessa lentokentän itä-koillispuolella. Paikallisten kertoman mukaan Ruissaaren alkuperäinen nimi on ollut Ruumissaari. Nimi on muutettu kun paikalle tehtiin "huvikeskus" eli tanssilava, jotta paikka olisi houkuttelevampi. Paikalliset kertoivat myös, että saareen olisi haudattu ihmisiä. Kyseessä lienee ns. kelirikkoajan tilapäishautausmaa - ehkä 1500-1700 luvuilta. Mitään merkkejä haudoista saaressa ei enää ole.
Tanssilavaa alueella ei enää ole. Sen sijaan sieltä löytyy kota, laavu ja Rengonkylän kyläseuran mökki.Talvisin hiihtolatu kulkee laavun kautta ja siellä on avantouintipaikka.
Kyläseura vuokraa mökkiä, joten ei ole suotavaa mennä saareen, jos siellä on asukkaita.

The destination is located in Rengonkylä and is an island in the Seinäjoki river, on the east-north-east side of the airport. According to the locals, Ruissaari (Rye Island) was originally called Ruumissaari (Corpse Island). The name was changed when an "attraction center" (dance area) was built in order to attract more attention. Locals also have said that people have been buried on the island. Most likely it had functioned as a temporary graveyard during rospuutto (quagmire season), possibly between the 16th-18th century. There are no longer any signs of the graves.
There is no dancing area in the area anymore. Instead there is a kota (Saami native tent), a laavu (lean-to shelter), and the Rengonkylä Town Association's cabin. During the winter, the ski track goes by the laavu and there is a place to swim. The association rents out the cabin, so it is not advisable to go to the island if there are habitants.
